The Morning Read

Personal Blog

Happy Shelter-in-place Summer 2021! We're doing fine and we're starting to get some warmer (almost hot - 90s) weather in Sacramento! We've had little rain since March after a no rain February. The Snapdragons are blooming everywhere with highs in the upper 80s. The roses are blooming every color.

Classes at the Sacramento Renaissance Society were in full swing over zoom for the spring semester 2021 but have now ended. I took a position on the board and am working in the program committeegetting ready for Fall 2021 distance learning for seniors.

I am golfing occasionally (2-3 times a week) as most social distancing rules and no touch common objects (i.e., flags, carts, etc.) are being phased out with many of us already vaccinated. I am reading some great fiction, drama and thrillers, and the occasional political analysis (see goodreads-chuck-wiseley to see what I'm reading). Thank you public library and ebooks! I've finished Thinner this Year, and then Greger's How not to Diet (enjoyed them thoroughly) as I've just reach my weight goal of losing 40 lbs since January 2020. Loved Patterson's Alex Cross series along with The Jane Hawk series (Dean Koontz), The Alpha Predator and Killer Collective are also recent favorites. If you want to know why the response to the pandemic is social distancing rather than contact tracing like other countries, read THE FIFTH RISK which is about lack of management at the top.

Anyhow, Click the menu items at the top or side to check out the site.

Thanks for your visit.

Note: Because of my close relationship with Mrs. Murphy (of Murphy's Law), I've had to move my website to AWS. I am slowly getting a handle on making sure everything works so SORRY if something didn't load. My old web site host changed something so updates weren't showing up. Microsoft and many websites no longer support FrontPage extensions or sharepoint designer (which I used to design these pages) so I will probably have to convert to less powerful (free) software when SharePoint Designer 2007 on Win 7 is no longer supported. I currently am coding by hand so if you find a good one, please let me know.
